世界地球日| 我们能为地球做些什么？ -- 深国交给学子们的6点建议

世界地球日（Earth Day），即每年的4月22日，是一个专为世界环境保护而设立的节日，旨在提高民众对于现有环境问题的意识，并动员民众参与到环保运动中，通过绿色低碳生活，改善地球的整体环境。地球日由盖洛德·尼尔森和丹尼斯·海斯于1970年发起。现今，地球日的庆祝活动已发展至全球192个国家，每年有超过10亿人参与其中，使其成为世界上最大的民间环保节日。

今年的地球日主题为：珍爱地球，人与自然和谐共生。面对日益严峻的生态环境问题，我们有没有思考过，自己能为它做些什么呢？ 

Today, Wednesday is Earth Day. Did you know that this year it will be the 50th anniversary of this day?  

Our planet is an amazing place, but it needs our help to thrive! That’s why each year on April 22, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day to protect the planet from things like pollution and deforestation. By taking part in activities like reducing our litter, being more mindful of how we use energy in our homes and eating sustainable foods we’re making our world a happier, healthier place to live. This year, the Earth is struggling from the virus and climate change. It’s time for us humans to think about our behaviours and what we can do individually as well as a college.  

Today we have a challenge for the teachers and students of SCIE. What can we do tomorrow to show that we care for our Earth, after all, it’s the best place to live.  

We can: 

 •  reduce our rubbish (think about 5 things that could be reused or recycled). 

减少制造垃圾（想出5个能循环利用的物品）

•  make a meal that is plant based, eat a vegetarian diet or cut down meat consumption by 50%.

做一顿素食餐，吃一顿素食或将肉制品的消耗减少50%。 

•  turn off powered items that are not needed in your home.  

关掉家中不必要的电器。 

•  limit your water usage and don’t leave the water running when brushing your teeth. 

控制水的使用，比如刷牙时不要一直开着水龙头。

有绘画技能的人可以为地球日为主题进行一次艺术创作。
